The definition of a television or monitor is basically the
number of image lines, the number of lines has a direct impact on the sharpness
of the image perceived by our eyes, the greater the number of lines have a more
compact image and therefore sharper.
In general terms we can call high-definition anyone image
format that presents a saturation of lines (horizontal) x columns (vertical)
larger pixels to 480p (720 × 480 lines progressive scan) this definition 480p
is achieved by a DVD connected via component or HDMI video.
The most common image formats are 720p HD, 1080i, plus full
HD 1080p or which is the highest definition on the market today.
All monitors and televisions reach the minimum definition
for high-definition or "HD" (stands for High Definition) is 720p.
